Jacques-Louis Potgieter

Jacques-Louis Potgieter

One of South Africa's most reliable playmakers, Jacque-Louis Potgieter was a key part of the successful Free State Cheetahs side which made it all the way to the 2009 Currie Cup final.

Born and raised in Pretoria, Potgieter began his career at the Bulls before moving across to Bloemfontein and establishing himself in Naka Drotske's side.

His fantastic performances for the Cheetahs prompted the Bulls to resign him ahead of the 2010 Super 14.

Comfortable playing at flyhalf, centre or fullback, Potgieter's versatility has made him a fantastic asset to any squad. Coupling that with a reliable kicking boot and a great calmness under pressure, he was unlucky to miss out on a spot on the Springboks 2009 end of year tour.

After a frustrating 2010 at the Bulls the Sharks pounced to sign Potgieter - moving him to Durban ahead of the new Super Rugby season. Highly rated by coach John Plumtree, Potgieter is expected to play a big role for the Sharks in 2011.
