Pietersen is an outstanding goal-kicker and prides himself on his defence. His match-saving tackle in the 2012 Absa Currie Cup Final will go down in the annals of Western Province history as probably the most crucial – and clever – bit of defending in the union’s history.

A dangerous runner, Pietersen’s try against the Highlanders in 2012 will also be remembered as one of the greatest tries of the Super Rugby competition.

Gouws was included in the Sharks XV Vodacom Cup side half way through the competition after recovering from an injury. He quickly made the number 15 jersey his own and held onto it for the remainder of the competition.

A reliable goal kicker and all round solid player Gouws is one to watch for the future.

A strong fullback with great pace and superb vision, Rossouw was signed by the Blue Bulls in 2012 and immediately made his mark by representing both the U19 and U21 teams.

Rossouw's outstanding performances in 2012 caught the eye of South Africa U20 coach Dawie Theron, who was quick to include him in his training squad at the end of the year.

A talented utility back with a prodigious boot, Viljoen is a factor whether he plays flyhalf or fullback. He has also been selected at wing because of his pace and his excellent goal-kicking ability.

Viljoen came through age-group level at the Sharks before beginning his professional career at the Valke in 2005.

In 2008, Viljoen moved to the Griquas where he put in some outstanding performances for the Kimberley-based franchise. It wasn't long before he caught the eye of the national selectors and was picked to represent the Springboks on the 2009 Outgoing Tours to England, Ireland, Italy and France.

A powerfully built player with superb vision and a great turn of pace, Viljoen has been a game-changer for both the Cheetahs and Sharks in recent Super Rugby tournaments.
