Demetri Catrakilis

Demetri Catrakilis

After a brief stint with Racing Metro in France, Catrakilis returned to South Africa, and had an outstanding 2011 Varsity Cup campaign with UCT. On his way to helping UCT clinch the Varsity Cup title, he became the top points scorer in the competition, with a personal tally of 136 points.

It wasn't long before he caught the eye of Western Province coach Alistair Coetzee who was quick to bring him into the WP fold, and has nothing but praise for the young flyhalf.

Catrakilis has a unique awareness for the space around him and exploiting the space behind opposition with WP coach Coetzee saying, "That awareness is not something that is easily coached, you either have it or you don't."
