Naas Olivier

Naas Olivier

Perhaps one of South Africa’s most underappreciated gems, flyhalf Naas Olivier has firmly established himself as the commander-and-chief of the Griquas backline in recent seasons.

Olivier, now 28 years old, started his career with the Leopards before being snapped up by Western Province in 2006. After a couple of seasons of playing only a fringe role for Province and the Stormers Oliver made a move to Kimberley, joining Dawie Theron's squad ahead of the 2009 Currie Cup.

Orchestrated by Olivier, the Griquas enjoyed a fantastic 2009 Provincial season, only narrowly missing out on a spot in the semifinals.

A recognised points machine, with a great range of passing as well, Olivier was the first-choice for the Cheetahs in the 2010 Super 14 and is expected to play a pivotal roll for Naka Drotske's side in the 2011 Super Rugby season as well.
