Ashley's Blog: Winning Times!

What an adventure I have been on since my last report back on Newcastle. My first game was so exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time. We played at home which was really good, and it was an amazing experience to see the fantastic support that the Falcons have following them.

Since then we have played against some really good teams such as Bath, Exeter Chiefs, London Irish, Leicester Tigers - we have not had a good winning spree, but are still trying and persevering to get somewhere in the top listings for the Premiership log. The team is incredibly positive and we go out there every weekend to play to our best ability. We also work hard during the week to rectify our weak areas. In all fairness we have not been so lucky when it comes to injuries but it can only get better.

It has been announced that our club has been taken over by a new owner which means that there are exciting changes taking place. We have just had our physio room re-done and it is absolutely amazing We finally won our first game two weeks ago and it was such an awesome feeling to beat London Wasps 15-10. I wouldn't say it was the best game but as far as I'm concerned a win is a win - the whole team was upbeat and ready to take on the world, it seriously was a good feeling and we hoping to have some more wins in the future.

Corne Uys arrived two weeks ago so looks like we seem to be starting our own little saffa crowd here, there are so many New Zealanders here that I think sometimes even the UK guys feel like foreigners :-) It's really nice to have someone from home around so we have been trying to help him settle as quick as possible and show him the ropes and not make mistakes where we have made then.

Euan Murray is back this week and I cant wait to gain some experience from him, I feel so lucky to be able to scrum with one of the best tight head props in the world.

This weekend we play Cardiff Blue in the LV-Cup at home. Im hoping to have some good winning news next time.

Peace out homies
