Brumbies flanker joins Bristol

Bristol Rugby were delighted to announce the capture of Australian flanker and World Artists client Henry Vanderglas from the ACT Brumbies.

The 26-year-old back-rower, who can operate at blindside flank or No. 8, has signed until the end of the season and cannot wait to get involved.

"From seeing how Bristol have been going this season, and the sort of exciting rugby they have been playing, I was really keen to be part of that and make whatever contribution I can," said Vanderglas.

"I am raring to go. I will be training in the morning and I just want to get out there and contribute in any way possible now. I will be putting my hand up as early as possible to get into the mix."

Aside from gaining valuable experience by playing alongside Wallabies stars, including Goerge Smith and Rocky Elsom, at the Brumbies, Vanderglas has been a regular fixture in the Australian Sevens squad since debuting at the IRB London Sevens in 2008. The imposing 6'4" back-rower was instrumental to helping Australia win the IRB London Sevens two years later, scoring five tries during the Twickenham tournament.

“Henry has strong pedigree,” said Head Coach Liam Middleton. “I have watched him for several years on the World Sevens Series.

“He combines this international exposure with Club rugby experience at Randwick, and Super Rugby experience with the Brumbies.

“Most importantly, his character is well suited to our environment and he will contribute well to our culture.”
