Maku, Juries focus on the Big Issue
Two World Artists stars, Bandise Maku and Fabian Juries, are set to grace the cover of the Big Issue magazine in September as ambassadors for the Brothers for Life campaign.
Like many other World Artists clients, Bandise and Fabian have signed on to support the Brothers for Life campaign. Brothers for Life is a global campaign which focuses on practising safe sex, rejecting violence against women and calling on young men in South Africa to be a positive example.
The Big Issue of course is a well-known publication in South Africa. Itself a charity-driven organisation, the magazine has featured many of South Africa's most famous celebrities, politicians and sports stars on their cover.
A four page feature on Bandise, Fabian and a couple of other Brothers for Life ambassadors will appear in a September issue of the Big Issue and, hopefully, will help to spread the B4L message.
Maku and Juries were opponents on Saturday afternoon as the Bulls took on Western Province at Newlands but the pair were in great spirits on Wednesday afternoon - both clearly unaccustomed to being 'styled' and 'striking a pose.'
At the end of the day though the boys did a great job, even managing to enjoy the shoot a little bit!
BROTHERS FOR LIFE
Brothers for Life is a national Men’s Campaign that aims to create a movement of men that will ignite and spread throughout South Africa. The campaign draws upon the spirit of Brotherhood that exists among South African men and to encourage men to positively influence each other as men, partners, and parents and as leaders.
In addition, Brothers for Life seeks to address the risks associated with having multiple and concurrent partnerships, men’s limited involvement in fatherhood, lack of knowledge of HIV status by many, low levels of testing and disclosure, and insufficient health seeking behaviours in general.
The campaign is a collaborative effort led by South African National AIDS Council (SANAC), the Department of Health, USAID/PEPFAR, Johns Hopkins Health and Education in South Africa (JHHESA), Sonke Gender Justice, the United Nations System in South Africa and twenty other civil society partners working in the field of HIV prevention and Health.
World Artists is a proud supporter of the Brothers for Life initiative and are extremely proud to have the likes of Bandise and Fabian out there doing their bit for the community as well as playing their parts on the pitch.
